I am aware of the difficulties middle-aged individuals go through, as I myself have experienced them all. I have been through periods of gaining weight along with my wife during pregnancies, losing weight after pregnancies, gaining weight during peak career times and stressful times, and losing weight on just about any diet that has a name to it, only to ultimately gain it all back and oftentimes even more than what I started with.
Following the economic crash of 2008, I had a lot more time on my hands, as I was a builder and didn't have much going on at the time. I've always had an interest in health and fitness, so I decided that during this time I would get certified as a nutrition coach. During this education, I learned almost everything there is to know about how our metabolic mechanisms function and how nutrition plays a role in how they work. This led me to additional years of study concerning different diets and theories to determine what was best for me and, in general, for a population group as a whole.
My daughter's engagement prompted me to put this into action. At the time, I was at my heaviest weight ever, 250 pounds and I made the decision that I was going to put into practice all that I learned so that I could be at my best by the time she got married. My goal was to make sure that her wedding photographs--the ones that would remain in her home for years beyond my own, would be treasured, and I would always want her to remember me at my best and not at my worst.
All of that triggered my first self-experiment to see what works for the population of our age group. Conquering the program after seven months, my final weight was 182 pounds, and my body fat percentage was slightly under 10%. I'd gained more muscle mass than I ever had before at any time in my life. And I did it at 52 years old!
I knew that after much success in this regard, if I could maintain good health for the rest of my days, I had something worth sharing. I believe that oftentimes, this age group is frequently overlooked in the health and fitness industry. I believe that at this stage in our lives, it's the most imperative thing that we should be focused on. This program is entirely holistic, which is what I believe is warranted at this age. I will be sharing with you the things that I did in my journey as a guide, supported by science, but my main objective is for you to come out of this program understanding your own body and what works best for you.
